Blog #2
Hello everyone welcome back to my Blog! Today, I was able to interview Angel, he learned English at the age of 6. It was nice to find out some new things about him. Based on things he told me I can see teachers have been using visuals and repetition for long time. Since even teachers back then were doing that, it just show proof that it helps students with learning a second language. As a future teacher I will make sure if I have students who are ELL's I will be doing the same thing. Another thing I thought that really helped Angel was that he wanted to participate in activities and games. Since the kids he was playing with were only speaking English then he felt like he had to learn the language to feel more involved. According to Ortega, "participants did best in the language they were more actively and consistently using in daily activities"(Ortega. 2013. p.26). So for Angel to get with students or peer that spoke that Angel it worked to his advantage. Well thank you ...
